The New York-based basketball team is expected to debut the special jerseys on November 17 at their home game against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Barclays Center.

AceShowbiz - Late rapper Notorious B.I.G. has been honoured with special jerseys by the basketball team in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York.

NBA kit designers at Nike have unveiled the full range of their annual City Edition uniforms, with each team's design created with a nod to the communities they play in.

It was recently revealed that the Minnesota Timberwolves' jerseys would pay homage to another local hero, Prince, with inspiration drawn from the colours and fonts featured on the music icon's 1984 album "Purple Rain", and its accompanying film artwork.

Now officials at the Brooklyn Nets have shown off their Spread Love tribute kits, borrowing the name for the gear from lyrics to the Notorious B.I.G.'s hit song "Juicy".

The traditional black and white jerseys are lined with a multi-colour "Brooklyn Camo" pattern, inspired by Biggie, running down the sides of the top and shorts.

Top graffiti artist Eric Haze has also added his personal touch to the shirts, creating a customised logo reading "BED-STUY" for each player, a nod to the hip-hop legend's Brooklyn neighbourhood.

The Nets stars will debut the special jerseys on November 17 at their home game against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Barclays Center.

The team has another celebrity link to Biggie - former owner Jay-Z, also a Brooklyn legend, was longtime friends with the tragic rapper, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in 1997, aged 24.
