AceShowbiz - "High School Musical" is coming back to the small screen as part of Disney's upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service.

Joshua Bassett will lead the cast of "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series", which is set to launch in late 2019.

Based on the Emmy-winning "High School Musical" franchise, the series will be filmed in Salt Lake City, Utah, and every episode will include a new rendition of a favourite from the old show and an original song.

The original series turned Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens into stars.
