AceShowbiz - Archie (KJ Apa) is currently living behind bars at the Juvenile Detention Center, but it doesn't mean he can't have a little fun. Veronica (Camila Mendes) and the Vixens arrive in an attempt to entertain him and his fellow inmates.
In a sneak peek at "Riverdale" upcoming episode which comes in the form of music video, the cheerleading squad put on a spicy performance of Elvis Presley's "Jailhouse Rock" during the "clean, fair" football game between the incarcerated Ghoulies and the Serpents. The musical number includes spotlight moments for Veronia, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) and Josie (Ashleigh Murray).
"Number forty-seven said to number three/ 'You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see/ I sure would be delighted with your company/ Come on and do the Jailhouse Rock with me,' " Veronica sings while performing the dance routine with her team. Guards appear to be displeased by their performance, but do nothing to stop the girls from cheering the inmates up.
It takes a rather hilarious turn towards the end of the music video. The boys appear to have lost interest in watching the cheerleader and go back to continue their game. The Vixens pays no mind to it and keep dancing until the end.
"Jailhouse Rock" was written by legendary-songwriting duo Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller for late Elvis. The duo later wrote the movie score for the late King of Rock and Roll's film by the same name.
The song was a number one hit in the United States for seven weeks in 1957, and it was named one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. It has also gone on to feature in a number of film and television projects without Presley's direct involvement, most memorably in the final scene of classic comedy "The Blue Brothers".
"Riverdale" airs on Wednesdays at 8 P.M. on The CW.
