Sonequa Martin-Green and Late Scott Wilson to Return for 'The Walking Dead' Season 9

The veteran actor, who passed away at his home in Los Angeles due to complications from leucemia just an hour after the announcement, filmed his portion prior to his death.

AceShowbiz - More stars are set to make an appearance in season 9 of "The Walking Dead". During the show's panel at New York Comic-Con on Saturday, October 6, showrunner Angela Kang confirmed the news about the return of Jon Bernthal. She additionally announced that two more returning stars will be joining Bernthal in the new episode.

Sonequa Martin-Green and Scott Wilson, who passed away an hour after the announcement, are set to return for season 9, which premiered on October 7. Martin-Green will reprise her role as Sasha Williams, whiel Wilson is set to once again play Hershel Greene.

The three characters were previously killed in previous seasons. Bernthal's Shane was stabbed by Rick before Carl shot him when he turned into a walker. Wilson's Hershel, meanwhile, was beheaded by the Governon. Zombie Hershel then being finished off by Michonne. As for Sasha, she sacrificed herself in a coffin while heading to Alexandria in a failed attempt to take-out Negan.

It remains to be seen whether they will appear in a flashback or vision form. Wilson filmed his scenes prior to his death.

"The Walking Dead" paid tribute to Wilson, writing on its Twitter account, "Scott will be remembered as a great actor and an even better person. The character he embodied on The Walking Dead, Hershel, lived at the emotional core of the show. Our hearts go out to his wife, family, friends and to the millions of fans who loved him."

Khary Payton, who plays the character of Ezekiel on "The Walking Dead", also said on his own account, "The first time I met Scott Wilson, he gave me a big hug and said that this thing I had become apart of... was a family. He said I had a responsibility to take care of it. I have tried very hard to do that, sir. & I will continue. I promise. See you on the other side, my friend."
