Claiming that she was the original choice for the movie, DeGeneres takes over Lady GaGa's role in the mock video.

AceShowbiz - As many are looking forward to "A Star Is Born" release, Ellen DeGeneres couldn't help poking fun at the film. In the Thursday, September 27 episode of her talk show, the comedy aired a fake trailer featuring her in Lady GaGa's place.

"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" host claimed she was the original choice for the role of Ally, which is portrayed by GaGa in the actual movie. She then shared a faux trailer featuring her as a country girl, whom Bradley Cooper's character Jackson Maine is falling for.

"I think you're beautiful," Maine says to DeGeneres during their meeting in a bar. In another scene, the funnywoman, who wears a cowboy hat and an all-denim ensemble, holds a washboard instrument and shyly smiles as Maine tells her from a car, "Hey, I just wanted to take another look at you."

DeGeneres, with long blonde wig which is arranged into two braids, is also seen dancing onstage and emotionally lip-syncing to GaGa's rendition of "Shallow" before joining Maine for a performance with a full band.

The audience in the studio reacted to the spoof video with thunderous applause, prompting DeGeneres to jokingly say, "Listen, I think we should give Lady GaGa a chance. I think she'll be good too." She added, "I think that it was a different way to go and we'll see how that does."

"A Star Is Born" tells the story of Jackson Maine, a country music star who is on the brink of decline when he discovers a talented unknown named Ally. As the two begin a passionate love affair, Jack coaxes Ally into the spotlight, catapulting her to stardom. But as Ally's career quickly eclipses his own, Jack finds it increasingly hard to handle his fading glory.

Directed by Cooper, it is set to bow in the U.S. on October 5.
