AceShowbiz - Gladys Knight's publicist has shot down reports suggesting the singer is battling cancer.
The soul legend revealed what appeared to be a diagnosis to reporters as she arrived at her late friend Aretha Franklin's funeral in Detroit, Michigan on Friday, August 31, stating "we had the same disease".
The Queen of Soul lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on 16 August.
Knight told local radio station WDIV, "The last time I talked to her, we were at the same hotel and we didn't know it... I went down (and) I said, 'ReRe, what you doing out here?' And we just got to talking and everything and at that time we shared that fact that we had the same disease".
But Knight's publicist Javier Delgado insists the Midnight Train to Georgia singer does not have cancer.
Asked to clarify Knight's comments he told the Detroit News, "Maybe she meant she feels her pain. But she does not have cancer".
