The 'American Idol' alum takes to Twitter to apologize to fans for canceling her scheduled shows in Florida and New York.

AceShowbiz - Country star Lauren Alaina has apologised to fans after scrapping her second show in two days due to a "family medical emergency".

Early on Wednesday, August 29, organisers of the Bands at Barnard event in Rochester, New York announced the singer would no longer be performing that night, a message Lauren shared on her Twitter page as she expressed her sorrow.

"I'm really sorry I can't be there," she wrote. "Love you guys".

Shortly afterwards, the musician's representatives posted another note to fans, revealing she was also cancelling plans to hit the stage at the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, Florida on Friday, Auugust 31.

Again citing the family emergency, the Twitter alert read: "She is grateful to all the fans for the outpouring of love during this time and hopes to see you all soon".

The What Ifs hitmaker has not explained the exact nature of the personal matter, but in June, she went public with her stepfather Sam Ramker's cancer battle, as she appealed for donations to a crowdfunding campaign to help cover his medical bills.

On Tuesday, August 28, the singer's mother, Kristy, announced Sam had been hospitalised after suffering a lung infection, although she insisted treatment was "going well".

Lauren, who is next due onstage in Macon, Georgia on 6 September, hinted at the family crisis on the same day, after learning she had been nominated for New Artist of the Year at the 2018 CMA Awards.

"God always shines some light in a time of darkness," she wrote. "It's been a tough week for my family, but this brightened everything up a little. Thank you to all the people who made this nomination possible. You know who you are".
