AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey has scored a legal victory in her defamation lawsuit against concert promoters over two cancelled South American shows.
The Hero hitmaker sued bosses at FEG Entretenimientos S.A., claiming she was forced to cancel the concerts in Argentina and Chile because promoters hadn't paid her full fee. They launched a countersuit against her for axing the tour dates and blaming them for the cancellations.
The promoters alleged Carey gave them hardly any notice and no reason for scrapping the gigs, and then falsely accused them of being the cause of the drama in a tweet to fans.
She wrote: "Devastated my shows in Chile, Argentina & Brazil had to be canceled. My fans deserve better than some of these promoters treated them".

They were seeking at least $500,000 (GBP383,700) in damages for each of the missed shows and $2 million (GBP1.5 million) for defamation, but on Wednesday, August 29 the defamation part of the lawsuit was thrown out after the judge ruled Carey's Twitter message was opinion and not defamatory.
However, the lawsuit over the cancelled shows is still ongoing, as is Carey's case against the promoters, according to The Blast.
