If the 'New Light' singer is willing to help the songstress, she will buy him a new Rolex watch.

AceShowbiz - Courtney Love has offered to buy watch collector John Mayer a shiny new Rolex if he can help identify her godfather.

Love has turned detective in a bid to find out if her dad was telling her the truth as a kid when he suggested Grateful Dead star Phil Lesh was her godfather, and she has asked the Mayer to find out if his Dead and Company bandmate can confirm the story.

Commenting on a photo of himself, basketball legend Bill Walton and Dead star Mickey Hart that Mayer posted on Instagram recently, the Hole singer wrote: "my insane father who briefly managed the (pre-Grateful Dead band) warlocks (and apparently stole from them) after dosing me at 4 and loads of other crazy stuff told me phil (lesh) is my godfather. it may be true. "will you find out? i was too shy to ask in albany once on tour (sic). maybe he's not. i don't know..."

Courtney later offered Mayer a sweet gift if he helped her out, adding: "i'll get you a nice rolex john."

Mayer has yet to respond to Love's comments.

Meanwhile, the rocker joined old pal Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins at their 30th anniversary show in New Jersey on Thursday, August 02.

Deftones frontman Chino Moreno, and New Order's Peter Hook, whose son Jack Bates is currently on the road with the Pumpkins as their touring bassist, also joined the band onstage, as did rocker Davey Havok, the Killers' Dave Keuning and Mark Stoermer, and Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath.

The concert was staged as part of the Pumpkins' ongoing Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour, the first in almost 20 years to feature Corgan and his fellow founding bandmates Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha.
