The new series, which will be executive produced by the rapper's manager as well, has been given a 10-episode order by the network.

AceShowbiz - Rapper/actor Drake is returning to high school to executive produce a new TV series starring Zendaya.

The God's Plan hitmaker, who initially rose to fame as a teen actor on hit Canadian show Degrassi, has joined the team behind Euphoria, a coming-of-age drama focusing on a group of high school students as they "navigate drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship".

The project, penned by Wizard of Lies screenwriter Sam Levinson, is an adaptation of the Israeli series of the same name, which originally aired in 2012.

Zendaya will star alongside A Wrinkle In Time's Storm Reid, and Maude Apatow, the actress daughter of comedian and director Judd Apatow, while former Grey's Anatomy actor Eric Dane is also part of the cast.

Euphoria, which will also count Drake's manager, Future the Prince, as an executive producer, has been given a 10-episode order from bosses at America's HBO network, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series is currently in pre-production and an air date has yet to be announced.

Drake earned his first credit as an executive producer last year (17), when he stepped behind the scenes to work on sports documentary The Carter Effect, which centred on the rise of basketball star Vince Carter.
