Selena, who is Mexican-American, talks about the issue the premiere of 'Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation'.

AceShowbiz - U.S. leader Donald Trump's controversial immigration policies are ruining Selena Gomez's summer, because so many friends and family members are caught up in the drama.

The singer and actress put on a brave face for the premiere of her latest film, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, in Los Angeles on Saturday, June 30, but told reporters on the red carpet her thoughts were elsewhere, with those protesting Trump's efforts to separate families at the U.S./Mexico border at the nearby Families Belong Together rally.

Selena, who is Mexican-American, said, "It's (the family separation policy) extremely disheartening... There's a lot of confusion and anger... It's definitely been affecting so many people who are close to me".

Gomez was not part of the rally, which was attended by John Legend and his model wife Chrissy Teigen, but she tweeted her support of the march and the protests, writing: "Families seeking safety in our country need protection, understanding and opportunity, not detention. This is a moral choice, not a political one. #keepfamiliestogether".
