AceShowbiz - The Weeknd is taking his rekindled romance with Bella Hadid so seriously that he decides to avoid Selena Gomez altogether. He even makes sure not to mention his singer ex-girlfriend at all when they're hanging out together.

Even though the model isn't holding any grudge against the Disney alum, her friend tells HollywoodLife.com that "she doesn't want to be reminded about Selena and The Weeknd's time together" since "it's still a sensitive spot for her." The so-called friend adds, "She has asked him not to bring her up and they just don't mention her or discuss her at all. She is uncomfortable thinking about Selena and would prefer to leave her in the past."

"Abel is trying to move on from Selena too, he scrapped a whole album of songs about her, stuff he wrote when they were together," the friend continued. "Hearing those songs would have been uncomfortable for Bella and that's the last thing The Weeknd wants to do. He's all about doing whatever it takes to make her happy."

The friend adds that the "Starboy" hitmaker let Bella decide whether or not he should release the song. "It was a really sweet gesture and Bella appreciated it. But in reality it was the only option because if he wants a real change with Bella he needs to leave Selena in the past," the friend notes.

While The Weeknd is trying really hard to maintain their relationship, Selena allegedly warns Bella to not reconcile with the Canadian singer. Radar Online reports that the "Back to You" singer reaches out to the 21-year-old to warn her of his "shady attempts" to "play them against each other."

"Selena's disgusted by his behavior. He says he wants her back, calling her up at all hours, and then she hears he's kissing Bella 6,000 miles away in Cannes," a source tells the site. "Selena doesn't like seeing him try to use Bella, so she's told her point blank what he's up to."
