'Now I pray that Harry and Meghan can go on a nice honeymoon and rest and relax, and all of my relatives will just shut up about everything,' Thomas Markle says after his daughter's historical wedding.

AceShowbiz - Thomas Markle has blasted his family for criticising his newly married daughter Meghan Markle.

The former Suits actress tied the knot with Prince Harry in a groundbreaking ceremony at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in England on Saturday, May 19.

In the weeks leading up to the nuptials, Meghan's half-siblings criticised her in interviews with U.K. and U.S. media outlets, with her half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. writing a scathing public letter in which he told 33-year-old Harry not to marry Meghan.

But following the lavish wedding, Thomas slammed his relatives for creating drama.

"Now I pray that Harry and Meghan can go on a nice honeymoon and rest and relax, and all of my relatives will just shut up about everything," he told TMZ reporters on Saturday afternoon.

The 73-year-old was due to walk his daughter down the aisle at the wedding but was forced to pull out of the ceremony after undergoing heart surgery, with Meghan's new father-in-law Prince Charles taking over his duties.

Due to his illness, Thomas watched the wedding from his hospital bed. He also stated that he had sent his 36-year-old daughter a text message to "wish her well" and to tell her he loved her.

"The service was beautiful, and it is history. I will always regret not being able to be there and not being able to hold my daughter's hand," he shared. "My baby girl is a duchess and I love her so much. When you watch your child get married, every thought goes through your mind, every memory from the first day she was born, the first time I held her."

Meghan and Harry wed in front of 600 guests, before waving to the crowds gathered in Windsor on a royal parade in their horse-drawn carriage. The newly-titled Duke and Duchess of Sussex then celebrated at a formal reception at St George's Hall, before heading to an exclusive party with 200 guests at Frogmore House.
