CFDA president reveals that the KKW Beauty founder is chosen to be the honoree because she is 'someone who has really impacted the industry and has changed the way brands are presented.'

AceShowbiz - Kim Kardashian will receive the first-ever Influencer Award at the CFDA Fashion Awards next month. According to WWD.com sources, designer Tommy Hilfiger suggested Kanye West's wife should be the recipient of the award, which Kim will collect at the Brooklyn Museum on June 4.

"Tommy Hilfiger said, 'If you think about influencers and how they've changed our industry, I think we should acknowledge that,' " CFDA president and chief executive officer Steven Kolb says. "(The board) all agreed that Kim was someone who has really impacted the industry and has changed the way brands are presented. She's a friend of a lot of the designers and has had great influence on fashion globally."

"Kim is the most important and powerful influencer in the world. Her reach extends far beyond her own brands," a statement from Hilfiger reads. "Every time she wears, posts or talks about a fashion brand, there is an immediate and significant increase in both awareness and sales."

Kardashian is known for her daring style and recently showed off another iconic look at the Met Gala on Monday, May 7, wearing a gold dress that featured crosses on the hip and bodice to mark the evening's "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" theme.

She followed that evening's fashion choice with a bright yellow Versace corset dress, which she had recreated from the design house's Spring 1995 collection, for the Business of Fashion dinner on Tuesday night.

"VERSACE Spring 1995 - one of my all time favorite looks!" she wrote on Twitter. "I am so honored that this was remade for me! Thank you Donatella @Versace."
