Despite the cancellation, it doesn't seem Ash will stop capturing monster as the franchise is rumored to make its return to the big screen.

AceShowbiz - "Ash vs. Evil Dead" will not be returning for another season beyond its season 3. Starz has decided to pull the plug of the TV version of the Bruce Campbell movie franchise.

The horror comedy series, which sees Campbell reprising his role as a monster hunter with a chainsaw hand, won't be renewed for a season 4. Season 3 finale on April 29 has been set to serve as the series finale.

" 'Ash vs. Evil Dead' has taken audiences on a wild ride for three seasons thanks to the fantastic performances and creative efforts of Sam [Sam Raimi], Bruce, Rob and the entire cast and crew," Carmi Zlotnik, President of Programming for Starz, said in a statement. "We are proud to send the show out with a bang…and a splat."

Campbell also bid farewell to "the role of a lifetime." The actor, who first played the role in 1981's "The Evil Dead", took to his Twitter account to share a photo of him donning a full Ash Williams costume.

"Ash Vs Evil Dead has been the ride of a lifetime. Ash Williams was the role of a lifetime. I will always be grateful to Starz, Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and our tireless fans for the opportunity to revisit the franchise that launched our careers. Thank you!" so he wrote in the caption.

"Ash vs. Evil Dead" premiered on Starz in 2015. Besides Campbell, the series stars Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, Lucy Lawless as Ruby, Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar and Ted Raimi as Chet Kaminski.

Despite the cancellation, it doesn't seem that fans won't see beloved character Ash capturing monster again. Rumor has it, the franchise will make its return to the big screen.

Campbell appeared to fuel the speculation. In an interview prior to the premiere of "Ash vs. Evil Dead" season 3, the actor was asked about a possible fifth movie of the franchise. "We're going to see what the TV gods have in store for us," Campbell said. "We're ready either way. If they take us off the air, we can think about another movie."
