AceShowbiz - Kevin Smith made a heart-breaking announcement to his fans early Monday, February 27 after shooting a comedy special in Los Angeles. He posted on his Twitter account a selfie taken in his hospital bed and explained that he had suffered a massive heart attack on Sunday night, February 25 and could have died.
He tweeted, "After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100|percent| blockage of my LAD artery (aka 'the Widow-Maker'). If I hadn't canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would've died tonight. But for now, I'm still above ground!"

He mentioned in his Instagram post that the heart attack began after he performed a killer standup special. After the show, he felt nauseous so he threw up a little but it didn't help. Then he started sweating buckets and his chest felt heavy. Soon, he was rushed to Glendale Hospital.
"I was filled with a sense of calm. I've had a great life: loved by parents who raised me to become the individual I am. I've had a weird, wonderful career in all sorts of media, amazing friends, the best wife in the world and an incredible daughter who made me a Dad. Yes, I'd miss life as it moved on without me," he wrote.
He added, "But this is what I learned about myself during this crisis: death was always the thing I was most terrified of in life. When the time came, I never imagined I'd ever be able to die with dignity - I assumed I'd die screaming, like my Dad (who lost his life to a massive heart attack). But generally speaking, I was okay with the end, if this was gonna be it."
Hours earlier, Kevin had posted on his Facebook account a picture from his show tapping. He wrote in the caption, "Tonight I shoot my new standup special! Many thanks to the good folks at @comedydynamics for making it all happen - especially with this killer backdrop! And thanks in advance to the audiences showing up to both shows in #glendale tonight! Your pity laughter will be like sponges to my flop sweat!"
Following Kevin's announcement about his health issue, Chris Pratt took to his own Twitter account to send the director well wishes. He wrote, "Kevin we don't know each other too good but I have loved you since Clerks and I'm praying my a** off for you cause I believe in the healing power of prayer. Can you please pray with me people!?"

However, some Twitter users began to attack Chris. They said that "prayers were not enough," the same words that people said to politicians after a mass shooting. James Gunn then showed up on the same platform to defend Chris' tweet by writing, "So I just read Chris Pratt's tweet to Kevin Smith saying he would pray for him & made the mistake of reading the comments, many of which go off on Chris for saying he'd pray. I think people misunderstand the backlash against 'thoughts & prayers.' "
