AceShowbiz - EXO's member Lay has expressed his great love toward his mother in a sweet picture. The Chinese-born star, whose real name is Zhang Yixing, took to his Weibo account to share his tribute to his mother and we couldn't help being moved by his action.
The 26-year-old singer/actor posted a picture of him holding his mother's hand. He was gazing into his mother, who turned her back to the camera. "I can go anywhere with my mother's hand in mine," he captioned it, adding a heart sign on the photo.
Lay, who is the only remaining Chinese member of EXO, has not been actively promoting with his group since their July 2017 comeback. This prompts fans to speculate about his status in the group that propelled his name to international fame, with some wondering if Lay has followed the footsteps of former members Kris, Luhan and Tao who had left the group.
In a recent Instagram Live, EXO music producer Paul Thompson a.k.a. Marz explained why Lay has not been promoting with his groupmates in Korea, saying that it might be the best for the artist due to political issues between China and Korea.
"You don't want an artist to be in the middle of politics. They're there for fans...Lay needs to feel comfortable," Marz stated. "He's doing his own thing until the timing is right." China has been banning Korean stars amid intense relationship between the two countries.
Lay has been focusing on his solo activities in China, starring on television drama series and films in addition to serving as the main MC of "Idol Producer".
Though so, Lay has been keeping in touch with his groupmates. He got to meet up with Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin last December when the three headed to China for the Korea-China Economic and Trade Partnership event in Beijing.
