The first trailer for Bleecker Street's "Disobedience" starring Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams has been released for viewing pleasure. The film, which is based on the book by Naomi Alderman, depicts the forbidden love affair between Weisz's character, an Orthodox Jewish woman, and McAdams'.

The trailer begins with Weisz's Ronit Krushka returning home after her father dies. Ronit, who was living in New York after being exiled once for her romance with a childhood friend, presumably McAdams' Esti, by her rabbi father, heads to her cousin Dovid Kuperman's [Alessandro Nivola] house after his passing.

Asked if she is back for her dad, Ronit tells Dovid, "Why else would I be here?" But upon her arrival to the Orthodox Jewish community in North London, she reunites with her ex-lover Esti, who is now married to her cousin, for the first time since she was exiled for their romance.

Ronit and Esti soon find themselves back into each other's arms, and the reunited couple can be seen in some scenes sharing steamy kisses. "I can't believe you're here," Esti says to Ronit. Asked why she chose to get married to her cousin, Esti tells Ronit, "I think he felt that marriage would cure me."

As the affair between the two soon turns even more steamy, Dovid realizes something suspicious is going on. He can be seen at one point confronting his wife Esti, which causes her to break down and say, "Look at me. I have always been this way." She goes on telling him she wants freedom from their marriage.

"Disobedience" is coming to theaters across the nation on April 27 this year. Directed by Sebastian Lelio from a script he co-wrote with Rebecca Lenkiewicz, the drama also stars Cara Horgan, Lasco Atkins, Mark Stobbart, Bernardo Santos, Sophia Brown and Dominic Applewhite.
