The legendary K-POP boyband, which debuted in 1996, is scheduled to perform as five at MBC Dream Center on February 15.

AceShowbiz - A legend is back! H.O.T. is set to make an appearance on "Infinite Challenge". The legendary K-POP act has confirmed that the members will reunite after 17 years in an upcoming episode of the MBC variety show.

The show shared through a press release on Monday, January 29, "We met the H.O.T. members for the first time in November 2014 while preparing the 'ToToGa' [Saturday Saturday is for Singers] special, discussed with them in October 2015 for their appearance in the 'ToToGa 2' special, and began discussing with all H.O.T. members in the fall of 2016 for 'ToToGa 3'."

"H.O.T. is to perform at MBC Dream Center on February 15 as a part of the TV show," a production staff of "Infinite Challenge" added.

It was said that gathering the five members for a reunion took some time to work out as the bandmates had spent a long time apart from each other. However, the group, which consisted of Moon Hee Jun, Jang Woo Hyuk, Tony Ahn, Kangta and Lee Jae Won, decided to put all their differences aside and come together as five with fans in mind.

The upcoming gig marks their first performance together since 2001. Fans can apply online from February 1 through February 7 to attend the recording.

Due to the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, "Infinite Challenge" is scheduled to air the episode featuring H.O.T. special reunion on February 17 and 24 at a different time from its usual slot.

H.O.T. was formed by SM Entertainment back in 1996 before disbanding in 2001. Debuting with their first album "We Hate All Kinds of Violence", the five-piece boyband earned popularity not only within South Korea, but also in Taiwan, Republic of China and Asian communities in the Americas. The group further launched to stardom after they released their second single, "Candy", off the album.

It was said that financial issues led the group to a disbandment. Kangta and Hee Jun stayed at SM Entertainment, though Hee Jun left the agency in 2005. Meanwhile, the remaining three members formed a new group JTL under another label.
