New 'Captain Marvel' Set Pics Reveal First Look at Brie Larson in Surprising Costume
Movie

Larson's Carol Danvers wears Captain Marvel costume in surprising color scheme which harkens back to original costume of Mar-Vell.

AceShowbiz - First look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel has arrived as new photos from the set in Atlanta surfaced online via Page Six. The Oscar-winning actress was spotted donning the superhero costume during the filming on Wednesday afternoon, January 24.

The photos reveal a surprising color scheme for Larson's Captain Marvel costume. Instead of black and red, the costume that Larson wore is dominated with black and green. This design reminds comic book fans of the original design for the Kree hero known as Mar-Vell, the first Captain Marvel.

In the movie, Mar-Vell will be portrayed by Jude Law. In the comics, Carol Danvers gets her power after coming into contact with the Psyche-Magnitron, a device that altered her genetic structure. She becomes half-Kree and half human with new abilities. After she's able to control her power, she takes the name Ms. Marvel.

Following the first-look photos of Larson in Captain Marvel costume, fans have taken to Twitter to share their reactions. "They put #CaptainMarvel in her original Kree colors from the '60s? Oh, I like where this is going now," one wrote.

Another defended the costume, "People complaining how 'rubbery' the suit looks or whatever never seem to get that the costumes ALWAYS look silly in on set candid photos. It's how it looks in the movie that matters!!"

"BRIE LARSON looks amazing in her pre-CaptainMarvel/Mar-Vell Kree based costume Can't wait to see how she looks in the classic red, blue & yellow #CaptainMarvel costume!" another excited fan wrote.

Since "Captain Marvel" is not scheduled to begin production until March, it remains to be seen if Larson's Carol Danvers will be wearing her iconic red-and-blue costume in the movie. Meanwhile, the scenes that the actress is currently shooting reportedly could be for "Avengers: Infinity War" post-credits scenes.

"Captain Marvel" is slated to hit U.S. theaters on March 8, 2019.
