Halle Berry and Alex Da Kid have called it quits, and it was allegedly the "X-Men" star who initiated the split. After being together with the British music producer for about five months, the Ororo Munroe a.k.a. Storm depicter "really put things into perspective" and decided their relationship was "not for her," according to a source

To E! News, the insider reveals the reason why things didn't go well between Halle and Alex despite the two seemingly being very in love with each other. "Ever since splitting with her ex Olivier, she has been more cautious about who she chooses to bring around the children, and bring into her life," says the source, adding, "Alex needed to go."

And Halle "is much happier now," the source reveals to the outlet. The 51-year-old actress recently took to Instagram Stories to share a photo of a black rope positioned in the shape of a heart along with the words "Done with love" written across the snap.

Halle sharing the message came hours after Us Weekly confirmed the split of the couple and just days after Alex, whose real name is Alexander Grant, was spotted leaving WeHo restaurant Catch LA with a stunning mystery brunette last Saturday (December 9).

A source who spotted Alex on the outing told the publication that "they weren't holding hands but it looked like they were there together as a couple." The eyewitness added, "He pointed her to his car when they left and they stood really close to each other."

Halle's romance with the 35-year-old London-born music producer was her first major relationship since her divorce from Olivier Martinez, with whom she shares custody of four-year-old son Mateo, a year ago. Halle and Alex initially kept their relationship under the wraps for a few months as they were spotted leaving Il Cielo restaurant in Beverly Hills in July separately. They only confirmed their relationship in September via Instagram.
