The 36-year-old Victoria's Secret Angel is still working with the lingerie brand, despite recently saying that she 'will not take of my clothes anymore for [an] empty cause.'
In a lengthy rant she previously launched on her Instagram account, Lima said that she's "tired of the impositions, we 'as woman' can't be continuing living in a world with such superficial values, it's not fair for us, beyond fair, it's physically and mentally not healthy what society in imposing 'us' to be, to behave, to look."
The Brazilian model actually ranted about turning down a sexy video shoot, as written in the caption of the Saturday, December 9 post. "I had received a call for the possibility of filming a sexy video of me to be posted and shared in social media," so she said. However, many wondered whether she hinted at quitting the lingerie giant for good.
💜I had received a call for the possibility of filming a sexy video of me to be posted and shared in social media. Even though I have done many of this type, something had changed in me, when a friend approached me to share that she was unhappy with her body, then it made me think.... that everyday in my life, I wake up thinking, how do I look? Was I going to be accepted in my job? And in that moment I realized that majority of woman probably wake up every morning trying to fit in a stereotype that society/socialmedia/fashion etc imposed.... i thought that’s not a way of living and beyond that.... that’s not physically and mentally healthy, so I decided to make that change..... I will not take of my clothes anymore for a empty cause.....💜✨ #Embraceyouself #natureisbeautiful #naturalissexy #LOVEYOU 💜✨
But the model, who just walked her 18th Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai, China in November, assured fans that she would continue to collaborate with the label and focus on sending a message of female empowerment. And the "empty cause" she mentioned in her initial post was the video shoot unrelated to the lingerie brand.
Offering an explanation, a representative for Lima released a statement which read, "As Adriana mentioned in her post she received a recent offer where she was not aligned with the direction." The statement continued, "Adriana is blessed to be able to work with all of the brands she does including Victoria's Secret."
Besides, Lima ever said that she would not retire from the brand until her 20th Fashion Show. Speaking to PEOPLE while backstage in China, she revealed, "I plan to be at 20. Two more years. Maybe more, I don't know." She continued, "It's nature. I'm working out, I'm being healthy, so let's see how the body is going to turn out. But I enjoy it. So let's say 20."
Talking about all the praises she gets from the younger VS models, Lima shared, "I appreciate to get this kind of respect and love from the girls I work with. We work together. We spend a lot of time doing the show so it's important that we have this kind of connection with each other. It will show later in the work, when we are on the runway or doing commercials together. I really appreciate this from them."
