The stars like Daisey Ridley, John Boyega and Mark Hamill hit the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles as director Rian Johnson pays tribute to Fisher.

AceShowbiz - Marking the upcoming arrival of the highly-anticipated "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", the first screening of the film was held at the Shrine Auditorium near downtown Los Angeles on Saturday night, December 9. Fans gathered at the entrance as stars like Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Mark Hamill hit the red carpet.

Apparently taking the celestial theme literally, Ridley donned a dark strapless Monse dress adored with sequins and white star embellishments. She arranged her hair in a neat updo and completed her look with strappy metallic heels while wearing minimal accessory.

Lupita Nyong'o was also a vision in jade. She wore a strapless dress by Halpern that featured a high slit, showing off her legs. Sporting purple lipstick and metallic heels, she successfully turned heads with her glamorous look.

Boyega, who gave a scare hours before the premiere as he tweeted about being stranded in Atlanta, eventually made it in time for the premiere. He was all smiles in a navy turtleneck with matching jacket and pants.

Hamill also opted for a semi-formal look in a black unbuttoned shirt and a black jacket. Adam Driver, meanwhile, looked dapper in an all-black outfit while posing on the red carpet along with his wife Joanne Tucker.

Billie Lourd, who reprises her role as Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix in the eighth installment of the sci-fi movie franchise, literally shone in a sleeveless silver gown. Her red hair was styled in an elaborate up-do which would remind fans of her mother's look in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

But the night was not all about having fun as director Rian Johnson took a moment before the screening began to pay tribute to the late Carrie Fisher, who died last December. "I want to dedicate tonight to Carrie," he told the crowd from the stage. "I know she's up there right now flipping me the bird, saying, 'Damn it Rian, how dare you bring the mood down and make this night a solemn tribute.' So let's all have a blast together for Carrie."

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will open in theaters across the nation on December 15. It marks Fisher's final appearance as General Leia Organa. Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Andy Serkis and Gwendoline Christie are also among the returning cast members, with Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran taking on new roles.
