AceShowbiz - Netflix has released first-look featurette of the upcoming "Sense8" finale special. The less than 2-minute video sees the cast for the popular sci-fi series reuniting and weighing in on the two-hour finale, which is set to arrive sometime in 2018.
The video offers a behind-the-scenes look of the finale, showing the cast and showrunners going around the globe as they film the special. "I'm glad that the universe conspired to realign what was off center," Toby Onwumere says in the video.
Although the detail of the upcoming finale remains to be seen, the video teases that it will have some action-packed scene as Bae Doona is seen filming a fighting scene. Max Riemelt also says that they are "funnier than last season," after a scene of the cast having a fun carousel ride together is flickered.
"We are surrounded by the best quality of human beings that we could have," Erendira Ibarra shares. "It's been beautiful." Tuppence Middleton adds that she "just feels like a big ball of love."
"I'm proud to be a part of this," Riemelt says at the end of the video, adding that he's "happy that we can given them an end that will satisfy them."
Netflix greenlit the finale special after abruptly canceling the show in June, just two months after the show's second season. The decision to can the fan-favorite show didn't sit well with the fans, prompting them to make a petition to bring back "Sense8".
The streaming giant later announced on June 29 that it would treat fans with a two-hour finale episode, before saying goodbye to the series. "It is my great pleasure as well as Netflix's (believe me, they love the show as much as we do but the numbers have always been challenging) to announce that there will be another two hour special released next year," co-creator Lana Wachowski said in a letter shared on Twitter and Facebook.
"Sense8" centers on eight characters, who live in different cities around the world who experience a violent vision, and soon find themselves mentally connected by this experience. The series has developed a passionate fan base due to its diverse cast, LGBTQ-positive themes and exploration of issues involving politics, gender and religion. The cast includes Jamie Clayton, Tina Desai, Migue Angel Silvestre and Brian J. Smith.
