The final ceremony of 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards was held on Friday, December 1 in Hongkong. Actress Lee Young Ae closed the event by naming EXO as the winner of Album of the Year Award for their latest effort "The War", which sold over million copies in just 24 days since its release.

During their acceptance speech, leader Suho expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped the group take the award for the fifth time in a row. "We have been able to receive such a big award at MAMA for the fifth time in a row this year," he said, thanking all the staff who always supports them. "But I believe it's because we have our EXO-Ls that we are able to see such result. We will become [a group] who does not bring shame to this award."

Also at the show, Bangtan Boys a.k.a BTS was presented with the Artist of the Year Award, marking the second time they got the award. The boys were honored with the said award last year. Leader Rap Monster expressed his love for the group's fans, known as ARMY, in his acceptance speech.

"We would never have received that warm welcome and those honors if it weren't for all of you," he continued. "Thank you so much. And I think the words 'Artist of the Year,' really confirm it. We aren't sad or in pain anymore. We're confident and proud!"

Rap Monster then took to Twitter to say, "Sorry to forget to say my words in English!! The glory is all yours. Only you guys deserve this. Thank you so much for all the love. You make me love myself everyday truly."
