A new international TV spot for the upcoming 'Star Wars' film shows some new shots, including one that features DJ, a mysterious new character portrayed by Benicio Del Toro.

AceShowbiz - Despite the hype for and teasers of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", Disney and Lucasfilm have managed to keep some mysteries from "Star Wars" fans. One of them is a mysterious new character, DJ, portrayed by Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro. After the secrecy, the studios finally slip footage of DJ in their new international TV spot.

At the beginning, the clip is filled with familiar footage from the trailer and recent TV spots. Near the end of the video, at around 37-second mark, Del Toro's character is seen among First Order stormtroopers for only one second. Not much is known about DJ apart from the fact that he's a "splicer," which is the equivalent of a hacker in the "Star Wars" universe. Other than that, he doesn't belong to any sides, placing himself between the Resistance and First Order.

In a film screenshot that surfaced online last month, DJ is seen standing beside Finn (John Boyega) and Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) wearing First Order Officer uniform. It's indicated that DJ could be going undercover alongside the duo. His skills as splicer may prove to be vital to get Finn and Rose far in their life-threatening undercover mission. With this knowledge, it can be predicted that DJ's zoomed-in shot and his look of worry on the TV spot lead to imminent danger. Up until now, director Rian Johnson won't reveal what DJ means. He only said that the meaning behind the letters would be clear in the film.

The eighth "Star Wars" film stars big names such as Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Daisy Ridley as Rey, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke and Domhnall Gleeson as General Armitage Hux.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will open in U.S. theaters on December 15.
