The 43-year-old 'Late Night' host is reportedly close to sealing a deal to host the award ceremony early next year.

AceShowbiz - Seth Meyers is in negotiations to host the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards. Variety has reported that the 43-year-old "Late Night with Seth Meyers" host is close to sealing a deal that will have him taking the stage at the award ceremony early next year.

While the award show was reportedly considering going host-less, it now looks likely that Seth will fill the slot. If the deal is sealed, Seth will become the fourth person/team to host the annual award show, following Jimmy Fallon, Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey & Amy Poehler.

Jimmy did the honors for the 2017 Globes fete in January, while Tina and Amy were known for their much-praised 2013-2015 run. Ricky was an envelope-pushing Globes emcee from 2010 to 2012, before he returned in 2016.

Before Ricky's tenure began, the Globes telecasts frequently aired without a central host up until 2009. Many insiders argue it's difficult for a big name to host since "the commitment is significant and the returns for an established personality can be limited," according to the Variety report.

There is also the chance for the host to be trolled on social media or become negative Hollywood lore for bombing such as James Franco and Anne Hathaway at the 2011 Academy Awards, where they kicked off their co-hosting duties with awkward monologue.

Before Seth, daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and Tiffany Haddish, who made history as the first black comedienne to host "Saturday Night Live" last week, reportedly were also approached for the hosting gig, but they declined the offers. Tina and Amy also resisted gracing the stage once again.

The 2018 Golden Globe Awards is set to air on January 7 on NBC. This will mark Seth's first time hosting the show. The father of one previously emceed the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2014 as well as the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner.
