'Venom': First Official Look at Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock
Movie

The picture is taken from the set as the 'Dunkirk' actor continues filming the Spider-Man spin-off in Atlanta.

AceShowbiz - A new image from "Venom (2018)" is unleashed on Twitter as the filming continues in Atlanta. It shows Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock who later takes the mantle of the antihero in Spider-Verse. Wearing dark outfit, he sits on bed which takes up most of the space in the tiny room.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland", "Gangster Squad"), the Spidey spin-off is scheduled to make its way out in the United States on October 5, 2018. Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott and Scott Haze are in talks for supporting roles.

The synopsis is still kept under tight wraps, but Fleischer said the movie would deal with the relationship between Brock and the alien symbiote. "There's a famous quote: 'You're Eddie Brock. I'm the symbiote. Together we are Venom,' " the director revealed.

Eddie Brock was an infamous Spidey enemy. The character was first introduced on the big screen in 2007's "Spider-Man 3". He was played by Topher Grace. The character was just a minor villain in the Sam Raimi-directed film since his dark alter-ego was not explored.

A stand-alone movie has been developed since then. The project was stalled following the cancellation of "The Amazing Spider-Man 3". It was later fast-tracked when a reboot "Spider-Man: Homecoming" starring Tom Holland became a box office hit.

"Venom" is not the only Spidey spin-off in the works at Sony. The studio is also developing a Nightwatch movie. Spike Lee is reportedly eyed to direct the feature film that will ultimately introduce Kevin Trench. No release date is announced for the project.

Another standalone film that will unite female characters in Spider-verse is being developed as well. Silver Sable and Black Cat are confirmed to be part of the female-centric team. They will reportedly be joined by Spider-Woman. The untitled Silver Sable and the Black Cat project will open in theaters on February 8, 2019.
