Beside apologizing to the 'Star Trek' star, the Oscar winner says, 'I choose now to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior.'

AceShowbiz - Kevin Spacey has come out as a gay man and responded to Anthony Rapp's allegation of making a sexual advance toward him when he was only 14. The Oscar-winning actor revealed he's now chosen "to live as a gay man" and apologized to the "Star Trek: Discovery" actor for his past inappropriate behavior.
In a lengthy statement released on his Twitter account on Sunday night, October 29, Spacey said, "I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor." The "Baby Driver" actor claimed he's "beyond horrified to hear his story" as he "honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago."
He then added, "But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years."
Spacey went on admitting that Rapp's "story has encouraged me to address other things about my life." Addressing rumors about his personal life, the 58-year-old actor said, "I know that there are stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy."
"As those closest to me know, in my life I have had relationships with both men and women," he continued explaining. "I have loved and had romantic relationships with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man." He concluded his post by saying, "I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior."

In an interview with BuzzFeed News earlier that day, Rapp accused Spacey of seducing him back in 1986, when they both appeared in Broadway shows (Rapp in "Precious Sons" and Spacey in "Long Day's Journey Into Night"). Rapp said he went to Spacey's apartment a few days later for a party, after which Spacey picked him up, placed him on his bed and climbed on top of him.
Rapp alleged that Spacey, who was 26 at the time, appeared to be drunk and that "he was trying to seduce me." The 46-year-old actor continued, "I don't know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually." Rapp said he feels lucky that nothing more happened, but is still in disbelief that he had to experience that kind of thing at the age of 14.
