Shadow Monster in 'Stranger Things' Season 2 Is Explained
TV

While its motives in taking over human world remains to be seen, another thing we know about the Shadow Monster from the new season is that he is not fond of heat.

AceShowbiz - After featuring Demogorgons in season 1, "Stranger Things" brings in another, more dangerous if you may add, bad guy that threatens everyone in Hawkins. Namely the Shadow Monster, the new bad guy possesses an encompassing power over the Upside Down and is actively trying to expand his reach into the real word.

[SPOILER ALERT!] Taking a form which resembles gigantic spider, Shadow Monster often appears with an ominous red lighting in Will's vision, which is one of the after-effects of his prolonged experience in the Upside Down. Some fans assume that the monster is the architect of the Upside Down's ecosystem, given the fact that every living thing which exists in the alternate dimension is somehow connected to him.

The sophomore season of Netflix's series sees that the entity spreads his power through his tendril-like vines, which turn demo-dogs into ferocious wolf-like beasts. Fans previously thought that Will's vision are flashbacks from the time he was at the alternate dimension, but as the story goes, it is suggested that Will getting the eerie visions is because the Shadow Monster wants him to.

The new big bad also appears to have intelligence in some ways, proven by how he uses Will to lure Department of Energy soldiers into a trap. In "Chapter 4: Will the Wise", the entity sends his dust-particle into Will, making him a part of his mind. It connects the kid to every single thing from the Upside Down since the Shadow Monster controls them. It explains why Will collapses when the vines in the tunnels under Hawkins were burned by the soldiers.

While its motives in taking over human world remains to be seen, another thing we know about the Shadow Monster from the new season is that he is not fond of heat. It is proven by the overall foggy and cold climate in the Upside Down.

Season 2 shows that the kids, with the help of Eleven, manage to break the Shadow Monster's hive mind link by closing the gate to his dimension. As the Shadow Monster is seemingly still alive in the alternate dimension, fans may expect to see more of him in the upcoming seasons of "Stranger Things".
