The 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' actor is joining John David Washington in the upcoming KKK thriller to be helmed by Lee.

AceShowbiz - Adam Driver has joined Spike Lee's "Black Klansman". The "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actor will star alongside John David Washington in the KKK thriller to be directed by Lee, with Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions, QC Entertainment and Blumhouse producing while Focus Features will release the film.

According to Deadline, Driver will play Flip, a Jewish undercover police officer who is the best of the Colorado Springs police force. He's already had many years of experience and is a quick study. He is known on the force for being anti-social, and he's a perfectionist, critical of others' mistakes, but brave and dedicated.

The film is the true story of Ron Stallworth (Washington), an African-American detective in Colorado Springs, Colorado, who in 1978 answered an ad in the local newspaper seeking new Klan members. He not only gained membership, but rose through the ranks to become the head of the local chapter. Stallworth, who is black, was able to gather all sorts of intelligence by pretending to be a white supremacist on the phone or via other forms of correspondence but sent a white fellow officer in his place for any in-person meetings. During his undercover work, Stallworth managed to sabotage several cross-burnings and other activities of the notorious hate group.

The film will be based on Stallworth's 2014 memoir of the same name, with the screenplay adapted by Charlie Wachtel and David Rabinowitz along with Lee and Kevin Willmott. No release date has been announced, but filming on the movie is expected to begin this fall. The film reportedly has also cast "Spider-Man: Homecoming" actress Laura Harrier.

Driver is known for his role as Kylo Ren in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". He will reprise the role in its follow-up, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", which is due out in theaters across the nation on December 15. The 33-year-old actor has also appeared on HBO's "Girls".
