Also set to return in the upcoming November 2 episode is Wil Wheaton, who plays himself on the hit CBS comedy.

AceShowbiz - Season 11 of "The Big Bang Theory" will bring back a fan-favorite. Bob Newhart is set to reprise his role as the late Arthur Jeffries a.k.a. Professor Proton in an episode of the new season of "The Big Bang Theory".

The Emmy-winning actor will once again portray Professor Proton, Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) childhood hero. The character is depicted as a former Bill Nye-type host of a scientific TV show. Bob is set to return in the upcoming November 2 episode.

There is no further detail about the episode as the episode has not yet been filmed. However, Professor Proton, who died in season 7, most likely will appear in a dream-like Jedi form as his own personal Obi Wan, just like what he did in previous seasons.

Following the premiere of season 11, in which Amy said yes to Sheldon's marriage proposal, fans assume that his return may tie to Sheldon's engagement. He seemingly will help Sheldon through the engagement.

Bob first appeared in the sixth season of the CBS series. He won his very first time Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Professor Proton. The return comes two years after his last appearance back in season 9.

Also set to return in the new season is Wil Wheaton. The "Stand By Me" actor will reprise his role as Sheldon's on-and-off nemesis, also in the same episode. Wil, who plays himself on the show, first debuted as a pivotal antagonist in season 3 episode titled "The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary". He later became friends with Sheldon in season 5.

"The Big Bang Theory" airs on Mondays at 8 P.M. before moving to its regular night on Thursdays on November 2 at 8 P.M. on CBS.
