Us Weekly first broke the news on Tuesday, September 19, revealing that the pair, who share 2-year-old daughter Briar Rose, have been "on the outs" for months and are living in separate cities.
"She's full-time back in L.A. He's in Toronto," an insider told the news outlet about the longtime couple. "They've been on the outs for a couple of months." The source noted that Bilson and Christensen, both 36, "are completely, officially done."
The pair have been infamously quiet about their relationship for years. The couple first met on the set of their 2008 film "Jumper" and began dating that year. The got engaged later in December, but quietly called off their engagement in August 2010 only to reconcile three months later.
While they've kept their romance private, Bilson opened up about her love life with the actor in a 2013 interview with Cosmopolitan. "I'm a really good girlfriend - I always put all that first in my life. I'm definitely the person who would make him his favorite dinner to come home to," she said at the time. "I love to cook, so we make dinner at home a lot and watch movies."
The "Hart of Dixie" alum gave birth to their daughter Rose in October 2014. "Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson welcome their daughter Briar Rose Christensen born on October 29, 2014," her rep said in a statement at the time. "Both mother and baby are healthy and doing well."
Christensen later revealed that their little girl's moniker is a nod to the pair's mutual love of Disney. "There's a Disney reference there I suppose," the actor explained during an appearance on Hallmark Channel's "Home & Family" in August 2015. "The original Sleeping Beauty is called Briar Rose. Rachel - we both love Disney - but Rachel especially was very keen on the name."
Bilson and Christensen were last seen together in June, when she visited him on set of his movie "Little Italy" in Toronto.
