AceShowbiz - Paul Bettany and director Ron Howard share a new picture on the set of the untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II that explores the origins of Han Solo as the actor wraps up his work on the movie. His costume resembles Han Solo's signature look. He wears a white v-neck shirt and wide black belt.

"Had to say goodbye to my friend @Paul_Bettany today. Another terrific performance from a world class talent," Howard gushed on Twitter, to which the actor replied, "You're too kind. I had the best time watching you make it all look easy. Love ya." He added on Instagram, "Had the best time ever with Ron Howard. #StarWars."

It's unclear what role Bettany plays in the film. Some suggested he might be brought in to replace Michael K. Williams who's cut from the film because he's unable for reshoots due to scheduling conflicts, but others believed he portrayed a new character.

The upcoming Star Wars spin-off marks the actor's reunion with Howard after they first worked together in 2001's movie "A Beautiful Mind". It won four Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress.

Paul Bettany was last seen on the big screen in "Captain America: Civil War". He will reprise his role as Marvel's superhero The Vision in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War". His other new movies include "Journey's End" which also stars Asa Butterfield, Sam Claflin and Tom Sturridge.

The Han Solo movie is due May 25, 2018 stateside. Alden Ehrenreich will play a young version of Harrison Ford's Han Solo and Donald Glover portrays Lando Calrissian. They are joined by Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton and Woody Harrelson among others.

The movie will be the second spin-off in the ever-expanding "Star Wars" universe. The first one, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", that revolved around a group of rebel warriors led by Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso was released in 2016. Another standalone movie is expected to follow in 2020.
