The upcoming movie that focuses on the militant Black Ops force in the 'X-Men' universe will be helmed and written by Oscar-nominated Drew Goddard.

AceShowbiz - The upcoming "X-Force" movie has find its director and screenwriter. Drew Goddard is attached to serve behind the lens and help write treatment for the Black Ops force that is more militant and aggressive than the original X-Men.
According to Deadline, the group will be led by Deadpool and Cable. Ryan Reynolds is expected to reprise his role as the Merc with a Mouth and Josh Brolin is expected to return as Cable. The other members are still unclear.
Drew Goddard made his feature film directorial debut with 2012's horror movie "The Cabin in the Woods". He got an Oscar nomination for the script he wrote for "The Martian". He will next helm the "Deadpool" sequel.
"Deadpool 2" will make its way out across the country on June 1, 2018. It will introduce Brolin as Cable. The production was briefly halted last month after a stuntwoman named Joi "SJ" Harris died after doing a dangerous motorcycle stunt.
"X-Force" and "Deadpool 2" are not the only "X-Men" spinoffs developed by Fox. The studio is also hoping to bring "The New Mutants" into the big screen. Directed by Josh Boone, it's due April 13, 2018. Maisie Williams is cast as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes, and Charlie Heaton as Cannonball.
Meanwhile, the original "X-Men" story will continue with "X-Men: Dark Phoenix". Helmed by Simon Kinberg, it's coming out November 2, 2018. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Evan Peters are among the returning crew. Jessica Chastain is added as the villanious Lilandra.
Despite her initial hesitance, Jennifer Lawrence will also be back as Mystique. She explains to DigitalSpy why she returns to the franchise, "My contract was up, I didn't have to do another one, but if I didn't do another one, what would her story be? I felt like I owed it to the fans, and I owed it to the character to follow her journey, to be fair to the movies, and not be like, 'I don't want to do another X-Men!' And then I just never show up and everyone's very confused about the Mystique they've been following for the last three films."
