Queen Elizabeth II is said to be considering to appoint the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as the next king and queen, skipping her own son Prince Charles.

AceShowbiz - Are Prince William and Kate Middleton going to be King and Queen of England soon? Rumor has it, it won't be long until the couple takes the throne as Queen Elizabeth II thinks it will be better to pass the torch directly to them although her son Prince Charles is the next in line.

According to Life & Style, the Queen is happy that Kate is loved by the public. "Her majesty is just delighted that Kate has turned out to be such a star for the royal family. After all the scandals of the past, the queen is glad Kate has brought stability to the family," a source tells the publication, referring to Charles and Camilla's affair.

The source explains that Charles' scandal makes people turn against him. "When news first broke of Charles and Camilla’s affair, the public sided with Diana. But as time went by and the couple tied the knot, the negative publicity died down," the source dishes. "Now the anniversary of her death has reopened old wounds. The royals knew it would be much talked about, but they never expected so many to speak out about the suffering Di went through... Once again, critics are turning against Charles."

"Initially, Charles was opposed to the idea of abdicating, saying he had waited his whole life to be king," the source continues. "But he is coming around to the idea. In a funny way, stepping aside could make Charles incredibly popular. People would regain their respect for him."

Besides having the possibility to become a queen, Kate will reportedly become a mother of three soon. "Kate has always wanted a third child," the source shares. "She’s been telling friends she will have some great news to share soon."

The Duchess of Cambridge previously fueled pregnancy rumors as she was said to be hospitalized in Marylebone, London. Many believed she suffered from morning sickness since she was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum when she was pregnant with Prince George.
