AceShowbiz - Vanessa Grimaldi has spoken up for the first time since announcing she and Nick Viall ended their engagement. The Montreal-based special education teacher took to her Instagram account on Monday, August 28 to share a message about her feelings after splitting from "The Bachelor" star over the weekend.
"It's okay to feel broken. It's okay to cry. It's okay to lean on a friend," Vanessa wrote along with a photo of her resting her head on her friend's shoulder at the park while they were looking out at a lake. She concluded in her post, "In the end, it will always be okay."
Getting through her recent breakup with a little help from her friends, Vanessa is at home in Canada. A source close to Vanessa told Entertainment Tonight that she's also been spending time with her family to heal her broken heart.
"Vanessa has been spending time in Montreal, leaning on family and close friends," the source said. "She's been laying low watching movies at home and indulging in her grandmother's comfort food." The source added, "She's still in contact with Nick so that makes things easier. They're still close."
Vanessa and Nick announced their split on Friday, August 25. The pair, who got engaged in the season 21 finale of "The Bachelor" aired in March, said in a joint statement, "It's with a great amount of heartbreak for the both us as we have decided to end our engagement."
They said that they "gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairy-tale ending we hoped for." They continued, "We will continue to be there for each other no matter what," adding, "This hasn't been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other."
