Mindy Kaling broke her silence on the pregnancy rumors. During a sit-down interview on "Today" show, "The Mindy Project" actress confirmed that she's expecting her first child. "It's so unknown to me," she said. "I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life, and this is one where it's like, 'Okay!' It's out of my hands, which is kind of a fun feeling."

The 38-year-old star didn't reveal the identity of her baby's father, but she discussed how she felt about becoming a mother. "As you know, it's so easy to criticize parenting until you're a parent. So one of the nice things about becoming a parent is I will be able to openly criticize other parenting because I will have a child," she joked.

All jokes aside, she said, "My mom was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us but was just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did." She added, "My career choice was not something she was familiar with, and she was just so supportive of that, and if I could give that to my child, just that open-mindedness, I'd be so happy."

Mindy Kaling is currently filming the final season of "Mindy Project" which started on FOX before relocating to Hulu. She will next begin production on "Champions" a new half-hour comedy for NBC. The Peacock's President Jennifer Salke told CNN, "She's going to be pregnant but her character is not pregnant. She will be obscured in all the clever ways they make [the pregnancy] not seem apparent."
