'Dukes of Hazzard' Star Tom Wopat Arrested for Allegedly Groping His Female Co-Star

The Luke Duke depicter is accused of inappropriately touching a female cast member during rehearsals of his new musical in Waltham.

AceShowbiz - Tom Wopat was recently taken into police custody in Waltham. The actor known for his role on the 1980s TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard" was thrown into the slammer for allegedly groping a female colleague during rehearsals of his play "42nd Street" at the Reagle Theatre.

The woman claimed 65-year-old Wopat grabbed her butt when he walked behind her on the set. The married actor was arrested for indecent assault and battery. He was also charged for drugs possesion after "two bags of white powder believed to be cocaine" was found in his car during the arrest.

He was released on $1,000 bail. He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Thursday, August 3. He admitted to flirting but insisted doing "nothing that could be considered inappropriate." Of the drugs found in his car, he confessed to buying cocaine "in large quantities and uses it over time." He kept tight-lipped to reporters when leaving the court.

"42nd Street" is expected to open on Thursday with a different actor playing Wopat's role of Broadway producer Julian Marsh. Rumor has it, Wopat was previously reprimanded during the rehearsals for showing up under the influence.

As he made headlines with his arrest, two other similar incidents both also occurring during rehearsals were brought up. In one, he wrapped his arms around a woman from behind and pulled her into him. In another, he peeled the woman’s sunburned arm.
