The 'Titanic' star and Jennifer Davisson are developing a new scripted series based on Tom Wolfe's best-selling book on the channel, with the first season set in 1958 during the Cold War.

AceShowbiz - Leonardo DiCaprio is worming his way into television as he is on board to executive produce a new scripted series based on Tom Wolfe's best-selling nonfiction book "The Right Stuff". "The Wolf of Wall Street" actor and fellow executive producer Jennifer Davisson will be bringing the project to National Geographic, marking their another collaboration following "Before the Flood".
Leo's TV adaptation hails from his production company Appian Way while National Geographic reportedly is already planning out several seasons for the project. Each season will focus on a specific NASA mission, with the first season set in 1958 during the Cold War. Will Staples will write the script as well as executive produce along with Leo and Jennifer.
"Having already had a rich relationship with Leonardo, Jennifer and their production company Appian Way on 'Before the Flood', I'm excited to work with them in a scripted capacity," said Courteney Monroe, CEO of National Geographic Global Networks. "With 'The Right Stuff', we're looking at moment in time where the everyday life, the trials and tribulations, of these men was scrutinized in the public. The story gives a peek into the minds and goals of these astronauts seeking exploration and adventure during the space race of the '50s, making it the perfect story for National Geographic to tell."

The book, which depicted the recruitment, training and glorification of America's first astronauts, were previously adapted into a feature film in 1983. The movie debuted to rave reviews and starred Ed Harris, Dennis Quaid, Barbara Hershey and more.
