Disney is reportedly having trouble to find the right actors to lead the upcoming live-action musical remake of the classic animated film.

AceShowbiz - Disney is still on the hunt for the stars of its upcoming live-action take on the classic "Aladdin" tale. According to a scoop from The Hollywood Reporter, director Guy Ritchie has been making several rounds of tests in London.

The studio is reportedly having trouble to find the right actors. "The test process was a mess," a talent agent said. "Chappie" star Dev Patel, 27, and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" actor Riz Ahmed, 34, were reportedly eyed for the male lead, but they were unlikely to land the role since the studio preferred a newcomer.

Meanwhile, Naomi Scott, 24, who played Pink Ranger in the "Power Rangers" movie is allegedly in contention to play Jasmine. One of her competitors for the coveted heroine role is a 21-year-old Indian actress Tara Sutaria.

Rumor has it, the Mouse House is looking to secure the female lead first before they're selecting the male lead. The studio wants someone of Middle-Eastern or Indian descent to play the hero. The most recent rounds of testing had Dutch actor Achraf Koutet, Canadian actor Mena Massoud and American George Kosturos.

Will Smith is expected to play the Genie while Tom Hardy was recently rumored to be in talks for the villainous Jafar.
