Movie

Peters will reprise his role as Quicksilver from 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' and 'X-Men: Apocalypse', while Johnson's role is still kept under wraps.

AceShowbiz - Evan Peters is also returning for "X-Men: Dark Phoenix". The actor, who played Quicksilver in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "X-Men: Apocalypse", will reprise the role in the next installment of the mutant movie franchise which is now in production under the direction of Simon Kinberg.

Lamar Johnson, who stars on the BAFTA Award-winning Canadian show "The Next Step", is also joining the cast of "Dark Phoenix", according to The Hollywood Reporter. His role is still kept under wraps.

Peters joins the returning cast members which include Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Kodi Smit-McPhee. The actor, who is currently filming for "American Horror Story" season 7, was not seen in a recent cast photo shared by McAvoy. In the image, McAvoy, Turner, Smit-McPhee, Shipp, Sheridan and director Kinberg posed with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Jessica Chastain has been reported in talks to play a villain in the movie, Lilandra, leader of alien empire Shi'ar who attempts to imprison and execute Dark Phoenix. The report has not been confirmed, though.

Based on the Dark Phoenix storyline in the comics, "Dark Phoenix" will center on Jean Grey (Turner), who develops dangerously amplified telepathic powers when she comes into contact with the Phoenix, a cosmic entity that eventually takes over her personality. The connection births the Dark Phoenix and transforms Jean into a deadly force battling the X-Men.

The movie is slated for a November 2, 2018 release in the U.S.
