After the latest 'X-Men' movie opened to a major disappointment at the box office, the 'The Last Stand' writer reveals that he has received supports from fellow filmmakers, including Tim Miller.

AceShowbiz - Director Simon Kinberg has accepted blame for his latest movie, "Dark Phoenix", bombing at the box office.
The blockbuster culmination of Fox's superhero franchise opened to a dismal $33 million (£26.2 million), an all-time low for the comic book saga, despite a star-studded cast including Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and leading woman, Sophie Turner.
After the movie was panned by critics and unloved by audiences, Kinberg – who also wrote 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand" – has come forward and accepted blame.
"I'm here, I'm saying when a movie doesn't work, put it on me. I'm the writer-director, the movie didn't connect with audiences, that's on me," he told KCRW's The Business in a recent interview.
"I loved making the movie, and I loved the people I made the movie with," he added.
In the days following Dark Phoenix's disappointing debut, Kinberg said he received emails of support from colleagues in the industry, including filmmaker Tim Miller, with whom he worked on the first "Deadpool" movie.
"He wrote me an email having empathy for a movie that doesn't work," said Kinberg. "(He wrote) people will come to see the movie differently, and out of the context of this particular moment, see things in it they will appreciate and that he appreciated as a fan."
The "X-Men" franchise is now in the hands of Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, after Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox. And though he is largely done with the "X-Men", Kinberg will miss them.
"I love these characters. I love these world. I'll be super excited to see what Marvel does with them," he added.
"Dark Phoenix" is in cinemas now.
