Michelle Rodriguez Threatens to Quit 'Fast and Furious' Franchise Over Its Depiction of Women

'I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one. Or I just might have to say goodbye,' says Rodriguez who has starred in five out of eight 'Fast and Furious' films.
Michelle Rodriguez's Letty has been an integral part of the "Fast and Furious" family since the beginning, but it may end soon. The actress, who has starred in five out of the eight installments of the action-driven saga, wants the franchise to show some love to the female stars or else she will part ways.

"F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one. Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise," she wrote on Instagram on Tuesday, June 27. "It's been a good ride & Im grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years... One Love."

Rodriguez is one of only a few female cast members that has become a staple in the "Fast and Furious" franchise. Jordana Brewster, who played Dom's (Vin Diesel) sister and Brian O'Conner's (Paul Walker) wife Mia Toretto, didn't appear in the last movie, "The Fate of the Furious". Other female stars in the franchise included Gal Gadot and Elsa Pataky.

The eighth installment also added Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren as new characters. There has been rumor that a spin-off film centering on Luke Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) is being planned, with Theron possibly becoming a part of it.
