The Bronx femcee felt 'vindicated' after she took the Trinidadian-born rapper's title as the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at the event.

AceShowbiz - Hand over the crown! Remy Ma is beyond happy after she beat her longtime nemesis Nicki Minaj at the 2017 BET Awards on Sunday, June 25. Remy won the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist Award, breaking Nicki's seven-year winning streak at the event. During her acceptance speech, she thanked her husband Papoose and her business partner Fat Joe.

Nicki also got a shout-out during the speech. Remy threw a major shade at the "Anaconda" hitmaker by quoting a line from her song "Spaghetti". She said, "Y'all b***hes got fat while we starved/ Shots in your a**, pads in your bras/ Y'all some liars it ain't no facts in your songs/ And yeah that crown is coming back to the Bronx."

"Remy Ma backstage was ecstatic over her win," a source told HollywoodLife.com. "She was overheard saying she felt vindicated winning and that everything she has been doing has been the right thing to do and she is on the right path. She believes wholeheartedly that it was meant to be and loved beating Nicki. That made it extra special."

On the other hand, Remy's victory at BET Awards reportedly didn't really bother Nicki. For the Young Money femcee, losing one award didn't mean that she's not the queen anymore. "Make no mistake, Nicki was pissed abut the Remy win, but she's not gonna show it. Nicki's still the queen, she knows it, her fans know it, even the world knows it. Forget Remy, it's a case of Remy who? As far as Nicki is concerned," an insider told HollywoodLife.com.

"Nikci's officially the most rewarded female rapper in history, so she certainly doesn't need to add yet another stupid BET award to her library," the insider continued. "She hasn't been bothered about the BETs for years, the last time she went was back in 2015 with Meek [Meek Mill], because, well, Meek would attend the opening of an envelope."
