Kendrick Lamar knows how to tease his fans. Previously when he released single "The Heart Part 4", he raps, "Y'all got 'til April the 7th to get y'all s**t together," in the end of the song. It has since made fans expect the release of his new album. Now it is clear what April 7 stands for, as it is the date when he announces the album's official release date.

The new project, which is currently called "ALBUM", can be pre-ordered on iTunes. The album will reportedly arrive on April 14 via Top Dawg Entertainment. In addition, the rapper is scheduled to headline Coachella 2017 on the same day. Although the full track list and the cover art haven't been revealed yet, it is safe to say that the two latest tracks which were released last March, "The Heart Part 4" and "Humble", would be featured on the album.

The two tracks are controversial as they have made headlines since their releases. On "The Heart Part 4", Kendrick throws shade at President Donald Trump and an unknown fellow rapper which is reportedly Big Sean. Meanwhile, on "Humble", K-Dot promotes natural beauty and body-positive message by showing skin with stretch marks and a woman with natural curly hair and untouched face, which later sparked feminist backlash.

The forthcoming project will mark Kendrick's first proper studio album since 2015's "To Pimp a Butterfly". The "Alright" rapper previously said of the latest album, "My focus is ultimately going back to my community and the other communities around the world where they're doing the groundwork. 'To Pimp a Butterfly' was addressing the problem."

Although it's still unclear what the next album would be about, Kendrick's music has always been exploring spiritual themes. "I'm in a space now where I'm not addressing the problem anymore. We're in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God. Nobody speaks on it because it's almost in conflict with what's going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system," he added.
