Contrary to Regis' claim that he was never asked to return to the 'Live!' show, the producer points out that the retired talk show host did appear in its 2015 Halloween special.

"Live! with Kelly" producer Dave Davis responded to Regis Philbin's unfavorable comments about former co-host Kelly Ripa. The President and General Manager of WABC denied Regis' claim that he was never asked to be on the show after his 2011 departure.
"It was wonderful to have Regis on the show for our 2015 Halloween special," Dave said in a statement. "He's also been invited back several times as a guest, and in fact was confirmed for a date, but was not able to make it at the time."
During an interview with Larry King, Regis said Kelly hadn't talked to him since he left the show in 2011. "She got very offended when I left. She thought I was leaving because of her," he said. "I was leaving because I was getting older and that wasn't right for me anymore."
