Maroon 5 joins forces with Atlanta rapper Future on a new song titled "Cold". After teasing the song on social media over the past few weeks, the catchy track was officially released on Monday, February 13. The song follows up the band's Kendrick Lamar-assisted song "Don't Wanna Know", which was accompanied by a Pokemon Go-themed music video.
Co-written by Adam Levine, Future, Jacob Kasher and more, the mid-tempo breakup song finds the duo addressing their ex-lovers who have been so cold to them. Adam sings his verse, "Cold enough to chill my bones/ It feels like I don't know you anymore/ I don't understand why you're so cold to me/ With every breath you breathe."
Meanwhile, Future raps his verse, "Never thought that you were like this/ I took the tag off of major prices/ I just spent half a mill' on a chandelier/ Now you tryna cut me off like a light switch."
Last week, the band took to Twitter to announce that they would perform the song live for the first time on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", writing, "ANNOUNCEMENT: We're playing our new single #COLD this Wednesday, 2/15 on @TheEllenShow." Adam and the rest of the group have also reportedly filmed the song's accompanying video which stars fitness model Kerstin Schulze.
Maroon 5 is currently working hard in the studio to record new materials for their upcoming sixth studio album, which is expected to be released later this year via Interscope Record. Their latest album "V" was released back in 2014 and it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The set features three hit singles including "Maps", "Animal" and "Sugar", which peaked at No. 6, No. 3 and No. 2 respectively on Billboard Hot 100 chart.
