Frank's father Calvin Cooksey has filed a defamation lawsuit, saying that the 29-year-old singer's claim that he used a gay slur has cost him financial opportunities.

Frank Ocean is being sued by his father Calvin Cooksey over homophobic slur allegation. The 29-year-old "Nikes" singer claimed on Tumblr last summer that his father once used a homophobic slur years ago when he was a kid.
Frank made the statement in the wake of the Orlando massacre. "I was 6 years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f****t as he dragged me out of a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn't be served because she was dirty," he wrote.
Calvin says that Frank's allegation is not true. According to TMZ, Calvin has filed a defamation lawsuit over his son's Tumblr post, saying that it has cost him financial opportunities in film and music. He is suing his musician son for $14.5 million in damages.
Calvin also sued businessman Russel Simmons back in 2014 for accusing him of being "a deadbeat dad." He sued the co-founder of Yelp, Inc. for $142 million.
