The actress, who portrayed Elena Gilbert for six seasons, will be back for the series finale, which is titled 'I Was Feeling Epic'.

AceShowbiz - Nina Dobrev is back on "The Vampire Diaries". The actress, who portrayed Elena Gilbert for six seasons on the supernatural drama, announced the news by posting a photo on her Instagram account on January 26 to let fans know that she's returning to the series finale.

"I know it's Thursday, but this is not a TBT. #BackOnSet #TVDForever," the actress captioned a photo of the script for the series finale, entitled "I Was Feeling Epic". The title is seemingly referring to a quote from Stefan's (Paul Wesley) late friend Lexi (Ariel Kebbel), who memorably uttered the line in the first season.

Meanwhile, showrunner Julie Plec said in a statement, "I'm thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intented - with Nina back to help us say goodbye." Executive producer Kevin Williamson added, "I'm so excited to have Nina back to ensure our farewell episode is truly epic!"

In the season six finale, Nina's Elena was forced into a deep slumber as the result of a spell that put the life of her longtime friend Bonnie (Katerina Graham) in danger. To save Bonnie, Elena sacrificed herself. In the season seven finale, Nina's voice was featured in an emotional Damon (Ian Somerhalder) scene.

"The Vampire Diaries" series finale will air on Friday, March 10 at 8 P.M. ET on The CW.
